Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and technical Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will initially be a high-impact individual contributor—taking hands-on ownership of quality processes across our core open-source web and backend platforms.
As you integrate into the team, you will serve as a technical mentor and collaborate across diverse engineering units, extending quality practices into our broader application stacks and AI/ML innovation initiatives. This position is designed for someone who thrives in execution today and has the ambition and capacity to step into a formal leadership/lead role as our QA organization expands.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Testing & Operations (Hands-On Execution)
Hands-On Quality: Design, execute, and maintain end-to-end test plans, automated suites, and API testing across core open-source systems and modern web applications.
Automation Frameworks: Build and enhance scalable automation pipelines integrated directly into our CI/CD workflows.
Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects, working directly with developers to ensure timely resolution.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Modern Tech Expansion
Cross-Team Alignment: Partner with cross-functional development teams (backend, frontend) to integrate QA early in the development lifecycle.
AI & Machine Learning QA: Work alongside the AI team to help define strategies for testing non-deterministic outputs, model behavior, prompt validation, and data pipeline accuracy.
DevOps Integration: Collaborate with DevOps to optimize continuous testing within automated release pipelines.
3. Mentorship & Leadership Growth (Trajectory)
Mentorship: Serve as a technical guide and mentor to existing QA team members, raising the team's overall technical standard.
Process Elevation: Proactively identify gaps in testing workflows, toolsets, and release readiness standards, advocating for continuous quality improvement.
Future Leadership: Gradually take ownership of QA strategy, resource coordination, and cross-team quality governance as the team and scope grow.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance, automation, and testing.
- Test Automation & Tooling: Proven expertise in building and maintaining test automation frameworks using open-source tools (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, PyTest) and API tools (Postman, REST-assured).
- Polyglot Ecosystem Familiarity: Comfortable testing across diverse technical stacks (e.g., Python, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript).
- AI/ML Exposure & Interest: Strong curiosity or hands-on interest in testing non-deterministic systems, AI/ML workflows, or data-driven applications.
- CI/CD Integration: Practical experience integrating automated test runs into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab, or Jenkins).
- Leadership Aptitude: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor peers and lead initiatives informally.
