Job Description

We are seeking a highly strategic and forward-thinking SEO Team Lead to own and scale organic growth across a multi-brand portfolio. This is a leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, strong commercial acumen, and hands-on experience in modern search ecosystems including AI-driven and generative search.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of proven SEO experience, at least 2 years in a leadership or senior strategic capacity, and a demonstrable track record of driving qualified leads and revenue through organic channels.

This is not a maintenance role. You will be accountable for performance, team development, and measurable business outcomes.


Core Responsibilities

Technical SEO Leadership

  • Conduct comprehensive technical audits (crawlability, indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, JS rendering).

  • Oversee schema markup implementation (Organization, Product, FAQ, Review, Breadcrumb, etc.).

  • Manage canonical strategy, redirects, robots.txt, XML sitemaps, and structured data integrity.

  • Ensure all portfolio domains are optimized for both traditional crawlers and AI agents.

  • Maintain mobile-first performance standards and HTTPS integrity across brands.

On-Page SEO & Content Strategy

  • Lead commercial-intent keyword research and high-value lead generation strategies.

  • Optimize on-page elements (title tags, meta descriptions, internal linking, heading structure).

  • Develop E-E-A-T frameworks (credible authorship, citations, factual density, brand transparency).

  • Eliminate keyword cannibalization across brands.

  • Build modular content structures optimized for AI extraction and citation.

Off-Page SEO & Authority Building

  • Execute white-hat link acquisition strategies (digital PR, editorial placements, outreach).

  • Monitor backlink health and manage toxic link disavowals.

  • Strengthen brand mentions and UGC presence across platforms influencing AI citations (Reddit, Quora, G2, Trustpilot, etc.).

Organic Lead Generation & Funnel Optimization

  • Optimize full organic funnel: SERP ? landing page ? lead capture.

  • Prioritize mid- and bottom-funnel content that converts.

  • Align SEO strategy with PPC to optimize keyword coverage and reduce acquisition costs.

  • Track qualified lead metrics via CRM platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, or equivalent).


AI & Next-Generation Search (Mandatory)

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)

  • Optimize content for visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and other AI systems.

  • Structure content using semantic clarity and entity alignment to improve citation probability.

  • Monitor and grow AI citation share beyond traditional rankings.

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)

  • Target AI Overviews, featured snippets, and voice search visibility.

  • Optimize for zero-click search presence with authoritative answer formats.

  • Track AI appearance rate and citation overlap across search features.

AI-Integrated Workflow

  • Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Surfer AI, etc.) responsibly for clustering, auditing, and analysis.

  • Apply editorial oversight to maintain E-E-A-T integrity.

  • Conduct AI-assisted competitive gap analysis and SERP intent mapping.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and performance-manage a team of SEO specialists (technical, content, outreach).

  • Conduct weekly syncs and structured monthly performance reviews.

  • Align SEO initiatives with Brand, Web Development, PPC, and Legal teams.

  • Deliver executive-level reporting connecting SEO activity to revenue, CPL, and Share of Voice.

  • Identify team skill gaps and lead hiring and coaching initiatives.

  • Proactively monitor competitor movements and algorithm changes.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (mandatory) from a reputable accredited university.

  • Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.

  • Industry certifications (Google, SEMrush, HubSpot) are advantageous.

Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience with verifiable ranking and lead growth results.

  • 2+ years in a senior or leadership capacity.

  • Experience managing multiple brands or client accounts simultaneously.

  • Proven collaboration with Paid Media and Development teams.

  • Agency or multi-brand in-house experience preferred.

Technical Proficiency

  • SEO Tools: Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Sitebulb

  • Analytics: GA4, GTM

  • Reporting: Looker Studio, Power BI, or Tableau

  • Search Performance: Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools

  • UX Tools: Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, heatmapping tools

  • CMS: WordPress, Shopify, or similar

  • Bonus: SQL, BigQuery, structured data validation tools

Communication

  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Ability to present complex SEO insights to non-technical leadership clearly and confidently.

  • Strong executive reporting capability.
