Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and organized individual to assist QME (Qualified Medical Examiner) doctors by calling patients to collect brief medical histories. The role involves contacting patients to gather information, documenting it accurately, and preparing reports for the QME doctor. Clear communication and fluency in both English and Spanish are essential. While a medical background is preferred, it is not required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Outreach:
  • Contact patients via phone to obtain brief medical histories.
  • Ensure patients understand the purpose of the call and build trust to gather relevant details.
  • Medical History Documentation:
  • Ask structured questions to collect medical history, including symptoms, previous treatments, and diagnoses.
  • Record patient responses accurately during or immediately after the call.
  • Report Preparation:
  • Summarize collected information and prepare well-organized reports for QME doctors.
  • Use Microsoft Word or other tools to create, format, and save reports in a professional format.
  • Clear Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with both patients and QME doctors in English and Spanish.
  • Clarify any necessary medical information during conversations, ensuring accurate understanding.
  • Coordination and Scheduling:
  • Coordinate with QME doctors and staff to ensure timely collection and delivery of patient histories.
  • Notify the team of any significant information gathered from patient calls.
  • Confidentiality and Compliance:
  • Handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and adhere to privacy laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Maintain organized records of calls and patient data.

Qualifications:

  • Language Skills:
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Communication Skills:
  • Professional, empathetic, and patient-focused communication style.
  • Ability to explain and gather information with clarity and respect.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word or similar document software.
  • Basic knowledge of data entry and document organization.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a healthcare, medical, or administrative role.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient documentation.
  • Experience working with QME or medical-legal cases is a plus.
